Choosing your Reflexology Training
The one word we hear more often than any other about Reflexology training is MINEFIELD!
And it's not surprising with so many different Reflexology courses advertised on the internet, so it really does pay to do some research before choosing which one is right for you.
Many years ago the Professional Reflexology Association (PR) became the first organisation to Affiliate Schools. They do not pay us to be affiliated or to carry advertisements and promote them. These are chosen only for the quality of their training. This way we can guarantee you totally impartial advice and we hope you find this page helpful.

If you are thinking of training to become a reflexologist let us make some suggestions that you might find useful.
First, decide what it is you want to do with your qualifications.
This may seem a little back to front but it will help you to make sure that you get the right kind of training for your needs.
If you are not planning to go into practice.
There are any number of courses which will give you basic information, relatively cheaply. Often described as Distance, short or ‘fast track’ courses, will not be acceptable to reflexology membership associations like Professional Reflexology and in our opinion, are not adequate to practise professionally.

If you are planning to go into practice Then it will pay to maximise your potential
PR Affiliated Schools offer three qualifications and give you the high-quality training which you will need.
They all provide the depth of contact training required to become a skilled Reflexologist, regardless of the qualification they teach.
Questions to ask a School.
If you are hoping to practice for a career, we would recommend that you ask a few questions of any training establishment, and these are:
1. Can you speak to the tutor who will be teaching you?
2. Is the tutor a practicing Reflexologist?
3. How long have they been practicing? (This should be a minimum of 3 years)
4. How many hours is the course face-to-face with a tutor? By face-to-face, we mean direct contact. (This should be a minimum of 100 hours).
5. If I need advice during the course and after I am qualified will you be there to help me?
PR Affiliated Schools offer the following routes to training:
- The Professional Reflexology Practitioner Diploma (PRD)
- Level 5 Diploma in Practitioner Reflexology
- Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology.
Professional Reflexology Practitioner Diploma. (PRD)
Reflexology is a hands-on practical therapy. Therefore, you would expect your practical training to be of overriding importance. You may be surprised to know that no other UK qualification gives a guarantee as to the attention to, or the quality of, your practical training.
Developed by Reflexologists with over half a century in practice and training, the PRD qualification requires a minimum of 45% of time spent with your tutor in developing your practical skills.
With small class sizes and expert contact tuition, all necessary underpinning knowledge is included, with all content being relevant to a professional practitioner. The qualification fully complies with the regulatory requirements of National Occupational Standards and the Core Curriculum for Reflexology, and typically be offering in excess of 130 hours of contact tuition.
Level 5 Diploma in Practitioner Reflexology
The Level 5 Diploma has gone through a number of changes recently and we can only comment on the Level 5 accredited by Agored Cymru in Wales. L5 has a high academic content, and the PR Affiliated Gaia School of Natural Health in the Wirral offers an experienced, high standard of training at this level.
Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology:
This is the most common and widely available Reflexology qualification.
All Professional Reflexology Affiliated schools teach to, and above, the criteria for their chosen qualification. Therefore, training with a PR Affiliated School at Level 3 guarantees that you will be trained to a higher level than the Level 3 specification requires.
Feel free to call for advice if there is a school where you want to study 0208 1444 909 for more information on top courses near you:
All PR Affiliated Schools will give you high-quality training regardless of the qualification level at which they teach. They all provide the contact training needed to become a competent Reflexologist and PR is the only Association to insist on a classroom-based minimum. PR does not accept members from qualifying from short, fast track or distance learning courses.
Our advice is to avoid online and 'Fast Track' if you want to practice our wonderful Therapy.

We firmly believe that the benefits of Reflexology should be publicized to as wide an audience as possible.
We also believe Reflexologists should have the backing and support that they deserve, from practicing reflexologists.
To back up those beliefs, Professional Reflexology and its online magazine ReflexologyNews was launched in the spring of 2010 by a group of reflexologists and tutors with over 100 years experience. Our membership criteria are set high which is just one reason why:
PR is the fastest growing Reflexology Association representing the very best of UK Reflexologists.
