Very much in the news recently, Motor Neurone Disease was the subject of a PR Student Member's Case Study some time ago when it was less understood than it is now.

This would have been a difficult case to undertake when a Student but perfectly describes the journey over a series of ten treatments.

member directory

Members.... Please ensure that your Directory details and your webpage are up to date and published.

Publication does not happen automatically, because we cannot post Member details on our website without your permission, and it is up to each Member to make sure that their entries are up to date.
It is really easy to update your membership details. Log into the Member Area, and open the ‘Edit My Details’ menu. For example, if you move or change your telephone number you can change this under ‘Edit My Personal Details’. This contains contact details PR need for Member registration, but are not published.

‘Edit My Webpage and Listing’ details are those which will appear in your directory listing and on your personal webpage. Please remember that everything that you put into your practice details will be published, so for example, if you work from home and do not want your full address to be published simply don't complete that section.
You must publish your postcode for the directory, but you can just use the first part for privacy if you wish e.g. SW19 or CV34.

Please check your details to make sure that they are correct. It will only take a couple of moments do so, and it would be a shame not to take advantage of these free benefits giving such great publicity for your practice.

Reflexology Training

Each school has its own methods and specialities but must conform to the high values required of them as Professional Reflexology members.  You assurance in choosing one of these schools is that they are in a directory because they reach our tough membership requirements, not because they have paid for an advertisement.

Reflexology has been an important part of my life for over 26 years. It began in 1998 when I embarked on a year-long Holistic Therapy course. Although I enjoyed all parts of the course, including Aromatherapy, Anatomy, Physiology, Massage, and Diet and Nutrition, it was always Reflexology that stood out for me as the most special treatment.

Reflexology is a re-balancing treatment, physically, mentally, and emotionally, leaving clients feeling relaxed and with a sense of well-being. Giving Reflexology and knowing the benefits that each clients receives, makes being a Reflexologist a worthwhile profession to be in.

This passion, combined with the knowledge and experience I’ve accumulated over the years, is what inspired me to create The Sheila Shepherd School of Reflexology.

In my Reflexology practice, I’ve built strong and trusting relationships, and I intend to do the same with my students at The Sheila Shepherd School of Reflexology. Reflexology is a personal experience and I’m here to not only empower you to be the best, but to also make you feel relaxed and enjoy every moment of learning.

My name is Alison and I have been a reflexologist for 8 years now. I am a mum to two beautiful daughters, wife and nanna to one wonderful little boy (soon to be two). I live and work in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. I have my own holistic therapies business and have been thinking about sharing my passion and love of reflexology for the last few years. I find that reflexology is the most versatile of all the therapies as it can be carried out anywhere and on anyone of any age.

I started my journey at a point in my life when I had the means to train and completely change my career path, however, the year I had committed to taking that step all hell broke loose. I was caring for my mother-in-law who had dementia, my youngest daughter became a young mum and my husband’s health took a dip. I had never been so in demand, and I was studying a completely new, very in-depth course.

That leads me to why I chose the Professional Reflexology Diploma. The course I studied as I said was very in-depth and there was probably too much information. It wasn’t until PR announced that there was a new diploma created by reflexologists for reflexologists that I thought this could be something I could use to teach. It focuses on the practical elements so that it enables students to learn everything needed to go out in the real world and work once they have completed the course.

I have chosen to use local conference room hire for the course as I wanted somewhere with easy access around the East Midlands, and the Holiday Inn at J28 of the M1 is ideal.

I have found over the years that certain reflexologists attract certain types of client and for me my niche (and passion) is pain management (fibromyalgia and other auto-immune conditions predominantly), mental health, and oncology clients (both undergoing treatment and post-treatment). I have undertaken CPD courses in all of these so that I have a better understanding of the conditions and how best to help my clients.
By taking the next step in your reflexology journey, you will learn about all that reflexology has to offer, and I know that my passion and love for this treatment will certainly add to your learning experience.

Professional Reflexology Practitioner Diploma

yellow

If you've spent time in practice as a Reflexologist you will know how powerful and rewarding this therapy is and how satisfying it is to be able to help your clients.

Think for a minute just how much you have learned since you qualified. Imagine just how satisfying it would be if you could pass on those skills and knowledge to the next generation of Reflexologists. Able to concentrate your teaching on the most important skills of all, the practical aspects of Reflexology. Teaching the skills you have learned in your practice?

Developed by practitioners and tutors with almost 100 years in practice and teaching, the Professional Reflexology Practitioner Diploma (PRD) is a qualification written to benefit reflexology students and their future in practice. In doing so, we have created a training course that gives you, the tutor, the freedom to pass on your knowledge the way you would wish, using the strengths you have acquired as a practitioner.

The PRD consists of five Core Units designed to cover all of the underpinning knowledge needed to be a first-class practitioner. Added to this are a dozen Ancillary Units which are there to help you to teach using your strong points, and to give students an insight into areas they may wish to follow after qualification. You can choose whichever of these you prefer to teach.

One of the most arduous tasks in developing a school is the interpretation of the units into what you teach in class and ensuring that your course covers the full specification. We think this is a minimum of four months’ work.
This is why we have a fully written, established course plan for you to use and develop further if you wish.

We provide full backing to help you with the promotion of your school, from website content to tried and tested Social Media content and advertising.

With PRD you will also have an exclusive area in which to develop your school.

This all means that you can approach running your own school with confidence and concentrate on giving your students the best possible start in their careers.

Have you ever thought about teaching Reflexology?

Have you ever wondered about passing on the knowledge you have gained over time in practice? Have you ever wondered how to go about it? Read on!

What is the PRD? Wendy Finke Professional Reflexology

Based on our research via surveys and discussions with members and students, we decided in 2018 to launch our own qualification, the Professional Reflexology Practitioner Diploma (PRD).

We developed the qualification where the emphasis was on practical reflexology. There is plenty of underpinning knowledge of course, but it is the only qualification where minimum face-to-face practical training is specified.

Another aspect we are proud of is that we are dedicated to making use of technology and keeping it as "green" as we possibly can. In our own schools, we have developed and tested an easy-to-operate “cloud” based system that will be invaluable, not only for students but in helping schools to administer coursework, case studies, etc. This will keep paperwork and printing to an absolute minimum.

We are absolutely committed to ensuring that our quality assurance is robust and maintains the highest standards for our courses. Our cloud system will enable both internal and external verifiers to access & evaluate standards as the course progresses.

Why Run a PR School?

Want to teach Reflexology 2
Since its inception, the PRD has been taught in several schools around the UK, and its students have gone on to be successful practising reflexologists, with the tutors reporting it is easy to teach and our innovative recording and verification methods simple to use, but very effective in ensuring the required depth and quality of knowledge.

The PRD was written and assessed to ensure compliance with the latest core curriculum and described as “impressive”.

Orientated toward the requirements of the modern student and their future as a practising reflexologist, the PRD presents the perfect mix of practical and theory with a focus on developing the student's future business.

Aside from the “core units”, each school chooses additional units from our discretionary list. This means you will be able to teach, and gain recognition for, subject areas about which you are passionate, which has a positive & inspiring effect on the learning experiences of the students.

With the PRD, you will get continual, friendly expert support to help make your school a success. We offer a full range of backup promotional materials for use with social media. We also offer advice and, if you need, text for use on your website.

We guarantee you an exclusive area in which to run your school, and you will have access to a full course, laid out with a year planner, handouts, power points and individual session plans.

You will also have a full range of tutor notes, ideas and prompts to help you make your course successful, and you can make use of as much or as little as you wish!
